I am trying to get better at a lot....
At feeling better since a stomach flu has rocked this household for the last 5 days.
At being a better, more "interactive" Mom, again. Things have been so crazy in our lives over that last several months that I seriously miss the days of sitting down and playing dollhouse or Legos or a board game with my munchkins.
At having a more positive outlook on things in life. I have always been a worrier and a negative Nelly but I am trying my hardest to change that. Hubby says it will be good for my soul to not always think the worst things are going to happen. Maybe being so far away from our comfort zone will force me to be a bit more positive.
At having a stronger connection with my Lord and Savior. I have been developing my relationship with Him over the last two years and it will never be where I think it should be but I strive everyday to make it stronger and healthier.
At finishing what I start. I always have this wonderful ideas in my head but when they don't turn out the way I want them to, I give up on these ideas instead of trying again. I want to stop being a "quitter" and start being a "can-doer".
I guess there is a lot I am trying to get better at and it is never to late to start in life. One of my New Year's goals was to start blogging again regularly so I am trying to get better at doing that also.
Try is the best I can do.....when I try my best, then I will be satisfied.

First day of the rest of our lives.....
Well at least it is the first day of our lives here in beautiful Napoli!! The last 24 hours have been interesting to say the least. We all went to bed around 9:30 and woke up around 2:30am, something everyone forewarned us would happen. It was not just me awake, but it was all four of us until around 5am. Once we finally fell back asleep, we woke up around 11:30 and got moving quickly so we could get some things done. Top on our priority list was making sure Princess was all set at the CDC for daycare while we are in Area Orientation and making sure Little Man is registered for school so he can start on Monday. We managed to do that and get over to Hubby's new workplace to get a tour, meet some new people and see his new office. It was a busy few hours.
After we were done with those tasks, we headed over to the commissary to get some groceries so we didn't have to eat out everyday. I got my first culture shock when I walked around and noticed many food items we are accustomed to having missing from the shelves. It made me very anxious to get my Italian license and a car as soon as possible so I can go check out the Italian supermarkets. I have been told the produce and meat selection is much better there than at the commissary as well. I guess I will check it out soon.
Once we were done at the store and picked up some dinner, we headed back to the room and we are now ready to drop from exhaustion. I sure hope this jet lag dissipates quickly. My body feels all discombobulated. I wonder what time we will wake up tonight......

Flying Babies!!
Well we made it!!!!!!
Our first flight left late last night out of Norfolk. After another tearful goodbye with one of my very best friends, we settled into the boarding area to wait for our flight to be called. The kids were so amped and excited, it actually had both of us worried that they would be able to settle down for the flight. Finally they called for families with small children (yay, that's us!!) so we headed to our seats. Sadly we were not all seated together. The seating was 2 seats on the side and three in the middle for a total of seven across. So I sat in the middle three seats with the kids and Lee sat on the side closest to us. It worked out too because he was able to sleep and I was able to snuggle the munchkins up. After take off, we learned that the first flight would last only about 5 hours and the second even less than that. I was so happy I was ready to do cartwheels considering we thought we were looking at a 10 hour and a 7 hour flight!!
Both flights were very uneventful. They served a snack and played family geared films. We watched Ice Age 4 and The Three Stooges on the first flight but I couldn't tell you what they played on the second flight because I fell asleep. They served a dinner meal on the first flight, which was not too bad. The kids didn't like much off of it (big shocker) but luckily I had snacks and what not. After a lay-over in Portugal, we got on the second flight headed to our final destination. On the second flight, we were served a lunch type meal which was just ok. Hubby and Little Man slept through the meal and Princess would only eat the cheese and crackers offered but I figured that would be the case. Once we ate, Princess and I fell right to sleep. The whole trip overall was easy and very uneventful!!
When we landed in Naples, things moved rather quickly. They are very big on families here so they ushered all the families with children through the passport check first. Then it was time to find our sponsor. Well, not only did our sponsor come to greet us but so did most of the Chief's mess. It was so nice to be greeted by so many welcoming faces!!! They helped us with ALL of our baggage and transported us to our temporary home until we find one that suits us for the next three years!!
Our temporary home is not too shabby, however it could use a good cleaning. It is a two bedroom, two bathroom villa directly across from the school and CDC. It has TV, internet and the version of cable we will come to appreciate (I hope). My favorite part is the slide down shutters and the big balcony. My least favorite part is that we are on the top floor but at least I will get a good workout everyday (LOL)!!
Well the need for sleep is hitting me hard so I am going to head to bed!! Tomorrow will be a busy one, I am sure!!! So until next time, Caio!!!!

We're moving where???
I can't believe that in a few short hours our little family will be on a plane flying over the Atlantic ocean to our newest Navy adventure. When Hubby came home and told me we were moving to Italy back in June, life has been a whirlwind of activity but yet, it never seemed quite "real". Even after completing our overseas screening, downsizing our household for an overseas move and completely the countless tasks that were required for this big adventure, it still didn't seem real. Even as I sat there watching the movers, looking at all our of belongs packed in a sea of boxes, this move didn't seem real. Well, today is the day it all becomes real and our life as we know it will never be the same again.
I have decided that I would need to document as much of this move as possible and then all of our adventures for the next three years because so many people are going to want to know all about what we discover while we are in Italy (and hopefully traveling throughout Europe). So I am going to start blogging again, as much as I can, when I can. I will fill you all in on the good, the bad and the ugly. Hopefully, you will laugh some, smile some and maybe even consider coming to visit us!!
So until I write again, wish us luck on our journey. I will be lying if I said I wasn't scared about this flight with the munchkins!! They get antsy in the car after four hours, I can't imagine how they would be on 7 hour flight!! I guess we will find out!!
